Horsing around with the family

As a family we like to go horseback riding.  A lot of the times we go on a trail ride, but this day we went to the posse grounds just a few miles away.  It's amazing how our kids get along when we go to the posse grounds-they actually enjoy being around each other and are not pesky to each other. I don't know why they can't behave at home, but I will take what I can get!

Diva and Sporty riding Squanto.

Lolo is a cowgirl in-training.

Sporty is riding Kelly

This is Pretty Girl-she is Sporty's horse and Zman CANNOT get enough of the horses.

Aww, my little mini me riding right beside me.

Someone always needs to strike a pose...

Zman LOVES the horses, (and boats! we found this out recently).

Oops, I lied

I totally forgot my camera on the 4th of July, but this is what we did:
-parade (not sure why, except the kids love it)
-breakfast at a yummy restaurant
-Bee's game and fireworks after
-Trevor and I held our sanity together as our little Diva decided to cry theeeeeeee entire time.  Oh wait, she did fall asleep for about 10 minutes, but then it was crying and whining.  I think she didn't want to be there... (enter sarcasm)

In all seriousness, it was a great time to reflect on what freedom's I enjoy, including this one where I can blog about whatever I want to and not get kicked in the face.  Well, unless I decide to say my mom stinks like pond scum, THEN I would be in trouble.

I am grateful for the Service Men and Women who are fighting to keep our country free and to protect all other freedoms which we enjoy.  I am thankful for my friend Shawn who leaves his darling wife, Melinda (also one of my bestest friends in the universe), and their three kids, to fight for my family and his family's rights.  He puts himself in harms way because that is what he is called to do.  So thank you Shawn and thank you Grandpa Wade, Grandpa Jay, Uncle Gary (aka Grandpa Gary), and cousin Jimmy (who died in Vietnam), for your sacrifice and for your service.

Has it been a week all ready?

I can't believe it has been a week since my last post!  Where does the time go?  Seriously.  I know we have been busy-I mean, who ISN'T busy-but, A WEEK?  I do have some fun pictures of the 4th of July and some even MORE fun pictures of our horseback riding as a family.  I just don't have time to post them yet.  I am actually on my way to a PTA meeting...Yes, PTA, all.freakin.ready.  I have the lovely job of putting on a 5k this year-no biggie.  Really, no biggie... (in case you missed it, I am TOTALLY being sarcastic)

Bad mom

Warning!  Talk of poop about to begin...

I think I could be crowned "not a very good mom-of-the-year"  Let me back up.  Diva is/was sick.  Took her to doctor; told to give her a HALF a square of Ex-Lax-ya know, the chocolate laxative...  Anyway, got it home, gave her the dose and put it WAY up high on the top shelf of our highest cabinet.  Flash forward about 10 minutes...Z-man comes walking in the room with chocolate all over his face and holding the Ex-Lax in his hands.  He had eaten 5 squares-5!

Me:  GASP! Oh no!  How in the WORLD did you get that?

So I call poison control immediately and basically am told to give him lots of fluid because he is going to be pooping A LOT!  Not to mention, his poop will be so acidic that I need to coat his bum in Desitin 3 inches thick.

Great.  Daughter has high, high fever, and now son is going to poop all over.   Flash forward to next morning...everyone slept great (whew).  But let the fun begin.  Poor Z-man.  The acidity is/was definitely the worst part.  His bum had BLISTERS all over it.  No matter how thick I applied the Desitin, the poop just broke right through the barrier.  Oh I felt soooo bad for him.  However, he was such a trooper.  I am beginning to think this kid has a high pain tolerance.  He endured this all day with such a happy attitude; that is until I needed to change him and reapply.

THEN...this is where I am really going to win the award...After playing outside til dark, I pick up Z-man, walk in our house through the front door, shut the door and realize I totally shut the door on his fingers!  Oh my goodness.  As if the poor kid hadn't been through enough today!  He let out one of those screams that made me want to cry!  I was finally able to calm him down enough to assess the damage:  a minor scrape that produced quite a bit of blood, but a swollen finger that was definitely bruised and definitely hurt like hell, I am sure.  Z-man ended up falling asleep in my arms-such a tender moment, but such a "duh, why didn't I pay better attention" moment for me.  Sometimes I wonder why Heavenly Father entrusted me with these little spirits when I am such a spaz myself.

I am happy to say that Z-man woke up concerned about the band aid on his finger, but no lasting harm done.  AND, his poop his back to normal.  :)

Snuggle time

Right now my little Z-man and I are enjoying some snuggle time.  I love when he wants to sit on my lap and just chill...even if I am typing away on the computer and balancing my checkbook.  Both of my boys have always been awesome snugglers.  To this day, Sporty  loves to come jump into bed with me or cozy up to me on the couch and give me loves.  And I love that he doesn't get embarrassed to admit that he is an ultimate snuggler.  My boys must get it from their daddy-he is a snuggler too!  I love my boys!

Funny video...

This animation hits the nail on the head when it comes to talking about Ragnar and why I run it.  I laughed and laughed.  I have even been told that this is what a conversation with me is like when discussing running.  Although, I will beg to differ on the fact that I have an AWESOME personality and do not talk monotone.
