Break through

Today the kids all went to the dentist, including Z-man who NEVER lets them actually do anything to his teeth.  But today was different.  The cute little hygienist bribed him with a bouncy ball if she could take an x-ray of his teeth:  he TOTALLY complied.  Then he climbed right up on the chair, laid down and started watching the movie on the ceiling-mouth open, teeth clenched, but mouth open.  What the....?  Normally, he is SC-A-REAMING and running around, jumping off chairs, etc, etc.  I am apologizing up and down about his behavior and internally cursing this cute little ball of mess.  Maybe he is growing out of his temper tantrums-maybe-YEAH RIGHT!  Apparently bribing helps, though.  I may need to take this technique and use it for future events.  Who knew-BRIBERY!  AND we learned a new word today:  toothbrush is now pronounced as "poopfrush".  Z-man is too cute!

ps:  absolutely NO cavities!  Hooray!!!

What's wrong?

I have been a horrible blogger and keeping THE WORLD up to date with all that we are doing.  I have pictures, but they are on my camera and one would think that one could easily walk up stairs, get the camera, walk back down the stairs, download the photos, and comment on the photos, but one didn't and has not done that.  OY!

So, here is a picture-less, brief overview of what's been going on:

*Diva celebrated her 7th birthday
*Basketball ended for Trevor with the team making an appearance at the State Tourney-ahem, made an appearance, didn't say they actually played (sarcasm inserted here)
*Baseball has started for Sporty and we went down South for a tournament where they played awesome and played two games in to the championship series.  The team that knocked them out won the entire thing.   They did finish in the top 8 out of about 50 teams, so we are proud!
*Baseball started for Trevor and so far it's been......eh.  I think this will be an interesting season, one full of potential, but interesting.  Coaches have good seasons and bad seasons right?  And that's normal???  Okay, we'll go with that one.
*Trevor celebrated his birthday!  Hooray, he is the same age as me.
*Sporty celebrated his 10th birthday in the car on his way to the baseball tournament.  I have a 10 year old!  Or as he states it, "I am in the double digits now, Mom."
*My sister, Lyndi, is preparing to give birth and place her baby girl with a FABULOUS family.
*The 5k I am in charge of will come to fruition on April 21-SCREAM!  I will admit I am a bit stressed, but a bit excited to see the support our school has had from the families and from the community.

Ok, done for now.  Good day and I hope you all didn't get too many pranks on April Fool's Day.

Good Update

We F-I-N-A-L-L-Y got word back on Trevor's lip.........
It's normal.  PHEW.  Can you see my shoulders stand a little taller?  Can you see the bags under my eyes lighten up just a titch?  Can you sense my blood pressure stabilizing?  However, the Doc does want him to come in for a follow up in one month.  I am beginning to see a pattern with this doctor and it last about a month.  Good news, good news.  sigh

A prayer of thanks goes out to a loving Father in Heaven as well as to family and friends.  THANK YOU.

Yaddi yadda yadda

Right now I am relfecting a bit on life-on the ups, on the downs.  This morning started out on an up:  It's Trevor's birthday, I went on a run with a good friend, made a "breakfast in bed" for Trevor, the girls' rooms were all clean, chores were finished or being completed (with no complaining!), and the kids were happy-I was happy.  AND.THEN.IT.HIT-like a snowstorm in March in Utah.  The kids are bored, they are fighting, I am yelling (of course I NEVER yell...), rooms are a mess, there is screaming, crying, tattling, blaming....need I go on?

And then I realize, this is normal.  I am not alone in this-EVERYONE goes through these moments.  And then they pass.  But it hits me as I read others' blogs or the paper or watch the news just how BLESSED I am and how blessed my family is, even with the chaos.

We went through a little health scare with Trevor.  I won't go into details but there are two things we have dealt with or are still dealing with.  The first is over and done with-nothing to worry about, it will pass.  The second one is still in the process of wondering, worrying, waiting-I hate waiting-and thinking, "when in the world will the doctor get back to us.  It's been almost 3 weeks."  UUUGGHHH!  Trevor had a biopsy done on his lip, so we are just waiting, AGAIN WAITING, for the results.  Trevor did call on Friday and was told the results are in the computer but the doctor hasn't looked at it.  Which makes us think we don't have a lot to worry about.  But guess what?  I.AM.A.WORRIER.  I also think of worse-case-scenarios.  Can't help it-I am a mother. But seriously, when will the doctor look at the results???

Moving on:  I will keep this brief as well.  Remember the adoption I mentioned earlier.  Well, my sister found herself pregnant, single, and realizing that this sweet baby needed more in her life.  She has decided to place with an amazing family.  And it happens to be with a family that Trevor and I know very well. It will be an open adoption and long-story-short I now have two more nephews and soon, a sweet niece.  My mom all ready tells people she has 11, soon to be 12 grandkids.  My kids have started referring to Jared and Amanda as their aunt and uncle.  Our family is expanding-who'd've thought... To see their story click here.  But what a blessing in their lives and even in my sister's life-she has had to grow up a ton.  I truly have great respect for what she is doing.  So selfless, extremely difficult, but wonderful.  I don't think any of us truly understand the magnitude of this choice.  I, for one, feel like she will be blessed beyond comprehension for this choice she is making.

So see, even as I write this, my two year old has managed to dump out the toy bins with loud bangs, but I sit here grateful (though frustrated) for my life and for my AMAZING husband, and crazy, amazing children.  I believe in a Heavenly Father and His plan and I am truly grateful.

Welcome to 2012

Our baby girl has a birthday in January and this year she turned 5 years old.  5!  Where in the world did the time go?  It seems like yesterday this 9 pounder with black hair graced us with her presence-and now she is 5!  Happy birthday Lolo!
Things that Lolo likes to do:

Read
Ride her bike
Sing
Play with friends
Draw
Go to preschool
Watch Harry Potter
Dress up
Play with her babies
Wear lipstick, lip gloss
Try on dangle earrings (I won't let her wear them yet)
Be barefoot
Giggle

Lolo, we sure love you!

Lolo was also able to have her first "friend" birthday party.  She was thrilled to be able to invite friends from church and from school.  They played freeze dance, musical chairs, and pin the tail on the donkey using hearts.  They had a blast!

Then, of course, we have all the family come for cake and ice cream-I swear these birthdays are turning into a Gala Event....but the smile on her face is worth every crazy moment of it.
Happy birthday kiddo!

Family Pictures

These pictures were taken by Amber Togisala-Togisala Photography-and I must say she did a fantastic job!
You can check out her work HERE.  I hope you enjoy these pics!
This pose traumatized Z-man the rest of the shoot.

My kids' expressions are priceless!

Up next is family pictures with Trevor's side of the family....it's only been a year in the making.

Random

I am tending my cute niece (1) and nephew (3) today.  My nephew told me he wanted to help me with the laundry (his mom wasn't kidding when she said he would help!) so he sorted with me and we took the baskets into the laundry room.  Now, our washer and dryer are in our storage room which also houses our MASSIVE food storage shelves, an extra fridge, some more shelves full of storage, as well as our cat and dog.  Yes, I am a sucker-I bring my sweet lab in every night to sleep-I don't want her scared outside or cold!  Anyway, we walk in and H immediately says, "It stinks!"  Turning to his sister who was still in the family room he says, "Don't come in here.  It stinks, so stay there."  So protective.  And yes, it did make me laugh.  I am not stupid-I know that if animals are in a room, chances are that it will stink.  I just thought we did a great job in containing the smell by changing the litter and spraying Febreeze just about EVERY time we go in there.  Well, the saying goes, "Out of the mouth of babes..."  Thanks H for reminding me that my storage room stinks :)
