We've been busy!!!

So our family has been sooooo busy.  The summer started fairly slow but when July hit our family vaca's started up.  Which then brings us to August.  On August 7, all my training and running, and blood, sweat and tears finally came to fruition.  I ran my first half marathon.  My goal was to run it in 2 hours and 10 minutes.  My official time was 2 hours, 8 minutes and 14 seconds.  Not bad for a first time 1/2 runner.

Then August 8, my little family and my extended family headed out to Island Park for four days.  We stayed in a cabin and ended up going to Yellowstone two of the days.  We saw lots of bison, elk, and even a mama bear and three cubs.  It was a lot of fun.  Our kids are still a bit young to fully appreciate it, but in a few years we will do it a again.

Family Reunion

My mom's side of the family has a reunion every year and this year we chose to go to Bear Lake.  I love Bear Lake.  It's close, it's fun, and one can get a killer tan.  I do prefer Lake Powell,  but that is far away-although, TOTALLY worth it.  So my mom's two sisters and some of their kids (and their kids) came up for two days of boating and  wave running (is that grammatically correct?)  We rented a cabin-if that's what you call it.  It's a friggin' nice home, not a cabin.  My in-laws took us there for a week last year so I passed the info on to my mom.  My brother and uncle each brought a boat and Trevor and I brought wave runners. Unfortunately, one of them didn't work, so we were left with one, but it was awesome and everyone loved having it there.  So here are some pics from it.  My sister-in-law took some great pics, so as soon as I have those I will post them as well.  Enjoy.

Nicolette-she really makes a good mermaid.  Actually, she's a sport to let me throw her off the wave runner.   We both got thrown off a few times-it was AWESOME.  We were laughing so hard we could barely get back on.

We even had a "lack of talent show" featuring the girls dancing to "Jump On It" and choreographed by my brother, Tyler.  Sporty and two of the boy cousins made armpit farts which coincided with music, my nephew B played his guitar and another cousin did a skit with my aunt Mary.  Good times, fun games, good talks, wake boarding, tubing on the "taco" and a great tan.  I LOVE BEAR LAKE!

I know...pathetic

I am using this forum to get the word out that we are selling our Explorer.  Info:  2002, 82300 miles, 3rd row, seats 7, 6 CD changer, power windows, running boards, tow package, roof rack, 4 wheel drive, keyless entry with code
We are asking $8900, which might sound high, but we are totally negotiable.  Bring us an offer, baby!

We have outgrown it, and I will admit that I am a bit sad.  I mean, we brought home two babies from the hospital in it.  It kept us safe in the winters.  It always turned on when I turned the key.  Well, except once-I somehow managed to get out of the car and go to the gym while it was technically still in gear.  When I came out from my work-out, it wouldn't start.  I had to call my father-in-law to come help me.  Now remember, this was at 6:30am.  He came over, got in the car, put the shift in park and it started right up....I know, I am blond at times.  He just laughed at me, like he always does.  Good man that Roger.  ANYWAY, it may sound silly, but this car does have sentimental value to me.  BUT, I am willing and WANTING to part with it.

Thank goodness for modern medicine...

3 of my 4 children have had chronic ear infections since birth.  The two oldest had tubes put in when they were wee toddlers and last Thursday Z-man joined the club.  He had never had an ear infection until mid-April and then BAM he had 7!  Poor kid-poor momma!  He couldn't sleep when he had an ear infection, therefore, neither do I.  He would cry all night, therefore, so would I.  We were finally able to get him in to see a fabulous E.N.T (he was the surgeon for my first two) and schedule his surgery and now we cross our fingers  that the tubes work.
Z-man and I had to be at the hospital at 7am, they came and got him at 8:30 and we were home by 10:00.  WOW.  Modern medicine is amazing.   Seriously, I can't imagine living without these simple procedures that make a world of difference in people's lives.  I like to say that I could have been a pioneer woman-I really could have.  I can camp, hike, work, sorta cook, make port-a-potties, etc.  The only thing I would not have been able to do is birth a baby.  That actually would have killed me-seriously.  Again, hooray for modern medicine and C-sections!  Anyway, here are a few cell phone pics of the my angel baby just before the procedure.
okay, now before you go, "Ohhhh, poor baby!", let me tell you why he is screaming...I took away the remote that he thought was a shot-put.

He wouldn't keep his fuzzy socks on.

He just wandered around the halls and his room for an hour and a half.  He looked like a duck in that gown.  So blasted cute.
